Overview
Non-Freeze Coils – Type DS (Same End Connectors)
Steam distributing coils, also known as ‘non-freeze coils’, are custom designed coils used to prevent freezing of steam condensate for coils that are used as preheaters for extreme temperatures. Most commonly, non-freeze coils are used in applications that may
see freezing air temperatures and/or with modulating steam pressure. These coils are usually recommended for entering air temperatures below 40°F.
Steam Distribution Coil Design
These coils feature an inner tube inside the primary tube for two reasons. The inner tube distributes the steam to the far end of the primary tube where the steam returns and condensed in the annular area between the tubes, and the inner tube also acts as a heat-trace to keep the primary tube from freezing. Advanced Coil custom designs steam distributing coils with TIG welded tube side construction, and ASME ‘U’ stamp or CRN construction available upon request. Type DS coils are available as both one-row and two-row deep coils with the steam feed connection and the condensate return connection on the same end.
