Air Cooled Heat Exchanger (ACHE)

Air Cooled Heat Exchanger (ACHE)

From HVAC systems to chemical processing machines, air-cooled condensers are critical to health, safety, and comfort. Advanced Coil Technology manufactures heavy-duty and custom-designed heat transfer equipment for the industrial and process coil fields. Count on us for your next air-cooled condensing unit, engineered to fit your performance, safety, and quality specs.

Air Cooled Heat Exchanger Basics

Air cooled heat exchangers work on the simple principles of convection and conduction.  An ACHE contains coils or tubing that allow a process fluid, typically refrigerant, to travel through them. As heated fluid or vapor moves through the coils, heat escapes into the surrounding air. Thermal fluid coil tubes integrate fins, providing more total surface area from which heat in the process fluid can dissipate.

Part of the heat exchange process involves directing airflow over the finned coils. An ACHE’s design may accomplish this by either natural or forced drafts. As air travels over the fins, it takes in heat from the process fluid. As a result, the fluid cools down and the heat exchange process is complete. High-quality components, especially internal fluid coils, are key to ensuring an ACHE’s dependable operation.

Our Air-Cooled Condensers

Advanced Coil Technology produces an extensive range of heat exchange parts and equipment. We can construct your industrial air-cooled condenser to virtually any design, including the most common styles available on the market:

  • V-shaped, designed to deliver high-efficiency, low-noise operation
  • A-frame, which promotes efficient heat transfer and airflow over the condenser tubes
  • Flat, made with a flat configuration to save space
  • Round, featuring a cylindrical design to improve performance and reduce noise
  • Modular, built from multiple units for enhanced flexibility and capacity

Condenser sizes range from 18 by 18 inches up to units with multiple bays that measure 15 feet wide by 40 feet long. Our hydrocarbon and steam condenser coolers can withstand temperatures as high as 800 degrees Fahrenheit.

Besides these standard industry constructions, we fabricate custom equipment and can incorporate specialty coatings to protect your unit from corrosion in harsh conditions. We design coils and other air-cooled condenser equipment to meet ASME, API-661, NACE, CRN Code, and other key requirements.
