What are Bare Tube Coils?
Bare tube coils are coils that have tubes only without fins. Fins provide most of the heat transfer area and are responsible for most of a coil’s capacity. However, the problem with fins is that they can get blocked with particulate in the air stream, which is problematic for coils that have a tight fin spacing, below 8 fins per inch. Restricting the airflow will lead to a reduction in the coil capacity and will affect the entire process, which is why it’s recommended to use bare tube coils. Bare tube coils are commonly used in high-temperature applications where the build-up of product in the coil bundle becomes a fire hazard. Advanced Coil’s bare coil tubes are manufactured using a specialized tube bender that allows for faster production. Also, our tube coils can be designed and built to meet ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII, Division 1, U-stamp, and when requested our offerings can be National Board registered or CRN registered.
